What is considered a plumbing emergency?

A plumbing emergency includes major leaks, gas smells, burst pipes, overflowing toilets, and issues that require urgent repair.

How quickly can you respond to an emergency plumbing callout?

London Emergency Plumbing aims to arrive within 45 minutes and provides 24/7 emergency plumbing services across London.

Are your plumbers fully qualified and insured?

Yes, all plumbers are fully qualified and insured to provide professional plumbing services.

How much do you charge for emergency plumbing callouts?

Emergency plumbing callout fees start from £69, with additional costs depending on the job requirements.

Do you provide 24 hour emergency plumbing?

Yes, London Emergency Plumbing provides 24/7 emergency plumbing support.

Is it dangerous if my boiler loses pressure?

Low pressure on its own isn't dangerous. The boiler will usually lock out and stop heating rather than run unsafely. The real risk is whatever's causing it. A hidden leak can rot floorboards and stain ceilings, and a failing PRV can let hot water out. Get the cause found rather than topping up forever.

Why does my boiler pressure go up when the heating is on, then drop?

Some rise is normal, because water expands as it heats. A big jump followed by a drop usually means the expansion vessel has lost its air charge. The PRV then releases water each time the system heats up, so the pressure falls when it cools. An engineer can test and recharge or replace the vessel.

Can I leave the filling loop open?

No. A filling loop left open, even slightly, lets mains water creep into the heating system. Pressure then rises until the PRV opens, which can wear the valve out. Close both valves fully after every top-up. If your loop is the removable hose type, disconnect it as the manufacturer advises.

Will low boiler pressure stop my hot water?

On a combi boiler, usually yes. Most combis lock out completely when the pressure drops too low, so you lose hot water as well as heating. Topping up to 1 to 1.5 bar and resetting the boiler normally gets both working again, as long as there is no other fault.

How can I stop my boiler losing pressure again?

Fix the cause rather than the symptom. Have leaks repaired, get the expansion vessel checked, and have the boiler serviced once a year. A service is a good time for the engineer to check the PRV and vessel charge before they fail. Check the gauge every few weeks through the winter.

Do you charge a fixed fee or by the hour for emergency plumbing services?

Do you carry out insurance work?

When it comes to property management and insurance, we work closely with many building management agencies in London and Greater London to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for all parties involved.

Are there additional charges for callouts during weekends, nights, or holidays?

Yes. For night-time, weekend, and holiday callouts, prices start from £89.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept a wide range of payment methods, including BACS, Visa/Credit cards (chip and PIN), online payments, and cash.

Do you provide a free estimate before starting any emergency plumbing work?

Emergency work is generally billed hourly, though for smaller tasks, such as temporarily isolating water, we may be able to provide a free estimate.

Will you provide a breakdown of costs after the job is done?

Yes, you will receive an invoice with a detailed breakdown and an engineer's report after the job.

Is there a cancellation fee if I no longer need the service?

The call-out fee applies as the cancellation fee if the engineer is on route to your property.

What should I do if I smell gas in my London flat?

Open windows immediately, avoid electrical switches or flames, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999, then contact London Emergency Plumbing for gas leak detection and repairs.

How can I prevent my pipes freezing during a cold snap in London?

Keep your heating on low, insulate exposed pipes, let taps drip slightly, and contact our 24/7 emergency plumbers if pipes freeze or burst.

What are my rights if the boiler breaks in winter?

Landlords must provide heating and hot water, and London Emergency Plumbing offers 24/7 emergency boiler repair for homeowners or urgent situations.

My boiler is leaking water – what should I do?

Turn off the boiler and water supply and contact London Emergency Plumbing immediately for safe, professional emergency boiler repair.

What are signs my boiler needs repair?

Unusual noises, inconsistent heating, rising bills or leaks — all worth a professional check.

Will clearing it damage my pipes?

No — we use safe, professional methods that protect your pipework.
