How to Unblock a Drain

If your drain is slow or completely blocked, try the following methods to resolve the issue:

1. Boiling Water Method

A quick and easy way to tackle minor blockages caused by grease or soap scum.

• Boil a kettle of water.
• Carefully pour the hot water directly down the drain in stages.
• Wait a few minutes and check if the water drains more freely.

2. Baking Soda and Vinegar

A natural and chemical-free way to break down blockages.

• Pour one cup of baking soda down the drain.
• Follow with one cup of white vinegar.
• Allow the mixture to fizz and sit for 15-30 minutes.
• Flush the drain with hot water to remove any loosened debris.

3. Use a Plunger

A plunger can be a simple yet effective tool for unblocking a drain:

• Fill the sink, bath, or shower with enough water to cover the plunger’s suction cup.
• Position the plunger over the drain and press down firmly.
• Pump up and down vigorously for 30 seconds.
• Check if the water drains properly. If not, repeat the process.
